Giraffes have a difficult time bending low enough to be able to drink. They have to do some weird maneuvers with their front legs. The guides tell us that giraffes have a very large heart due to the need to pump the blood all the way up to their brains. We also learned that they cannot stay bent over to drink for a very long period as the blood rushes to their head. Apparently giraffes never lay their head from the time they are born to the time they die. They will lay their bodies down to sleep but their neck and head stay upright
